Spreading Western Culture Around The World Through Art

At Tay Harlan Gallery, we believe Western art is more than a regional theme, it’s a timeless, universal narrative. The cowboy, with all his grit, independence, and charm, transcends small towns in Texas and in reality, exists as a global icon. And that's because being a cowboy is not just a look, or a literal character, it's a feeling, it's something that anyone anywhere in the world can aspire to embody in a spiritual sense. Our mission is to push this modern Western motif across the world, infusing global art spaces with the spirit of the West.

While we favor the local crowd here in Dallas, we envision collectors as far as Tokyo, Berlin and São Paulo proudly displaying a Tay Harlan piece on their favorite wall. This isn’t just about selling art, it’s about sharing a story that resonates universally. We want these paintings to evoke that sense of adventure everywhere, because the West isn’t just a place, it’s a feeling. We want western culture and American style to be infused into every community around the world.

And yes, there’s a practical side to this. By encouraging art collectors abroad to embrace these pieces, we play a small part in cultural exchange—and yes, even lowering the trade deficit! By selling art abroad we are not only spreading American western culture around the world but we will help bring in more foreign money into the US. Or ultimate mission is to perpetuate and spread western art and culture far and wide, and it is that simple. And at the heart of it all, we’re focused on creating art that lasts, travels, and leaves a mark—just like those cowboys who inspired us.

Through bold color, pop energy, and contemporary framing, we reimagine those Western motifs so they feel fresh, even electric, in cities far from the prairie. And we do it with respect for the roots and an eye toward what’s next. Through art we will keep the west alive.
